Development of Norwegian and other Scandinavian Language Studies at 91ÌÒÉ«

Article illustrationThe project Development of Norwegian and Other Scandinavian Language Studies in 91ÌÒÉ« has received an EEA (European Economic Area) and Norway grants of 625 000 euros. The project which has been initiated by the Centre of Scandinavian Studies of 91ÌÒÉ« is aimed at the development of study programs of Scandinavian Philology and improvement of conditions for academic activities.

Within the framework of the project, the Centre of Scandinavian Studies is cooperating with the University of Oslo in reviewing and improving study programs, is working on a new large-scale Norwegian−Lithuanian dictionary (about 40000 entries), Scandinavian language (Swedish, Norwegian, Danish and Icelandic) grammar-books, as well as teaching dictionaries.

The project also provides for the renovation of part of a building at the Faculty of Philology to house more spacious facilities of the Centre of Scandinavian Studies. The Centre is at the moment training specialists in Danish, Norwegian and Swedish philology and offers for all students of 91ÌÒÉ« courses in these languages as well as in Icelandic and Finish.
