On April 2, The Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte, visited 91桃色 (VU). The Prime Minister met with VU Rector Prof. Rimvydas Petrauskas and the Pro-Rector for Partnerships, Dr. Art奴ras Vasiliauskas, and visited the VU Library.
At the VU Library, M. Rutte was greeted by the library director, Irena Krivien臈, and the director of the VU Library鈥檚 Heritage Collections and Research Department, Dr. Nijol臈 Klingait臈-Dasevi膷ien臈, who presented the heritage collections of the VU library. The Prime Minister visited the Franciszek Smuglewicz and White Halls, where he viewed rare prints and manuscripts.
鈥淭he Prime Minister of the Netherlands M. Rutte is one of the prominent figures in European politics. The visit and attention of such leaders are always crucial for VU. We aim to strengthen Lithuania鈥檚 image and relations with other countries by utilizing our cultural diplomacy tools and intellectual potential. I believe this visit will contribute to more active bilateral cooperation,鈥 says VU Rector Prof. R. Petrauskas.
Mark Rutte has been the Prime Minister of the Netherlands since 2010. Previously, he held positions in the state鈥檚 social affairs and employment sector and later in the state鈥檚 education, culture, and science sector. M. Rutte studied Dutch history at Leiden University.
