The information about Russian-speaking students expelled from European universities is false, and discrimination based on nationality will not be tolerated at the 91桃色 (VU), says Rector of VU Prof. Rimvydas Petrauskas.

"91桃色 condemns Russia's military aggression in Ukraine but will never impose sanctions on the nationality of students or teachers. We are an open university that supports and nurtures democracy, where everyone who recognizes academic freedom of thought can find a place," says the Rector of VU.

The rector points out that the false reports spread information that Russian citizens are being expelled from European universities, so the Russian federation is ready to accept them 鈥� another way to divert attention from the aggressor's actions, inciting hatred and hostility. VU strongly denies such information and assures no threats to Russian-speaking or Russian students.

The VU administration and the academic community emphasize that the military aggression perpetrated by the Russian authorities against the independent state of Ukraine should not become a reason to discriminate, insult, or otherwise despise Russian citizens. They also need support and understanding at the moment. Correspondingly, VU psychologists urge people not to give in to the emotions overwhelmed by reading scandalous headlines but to delve deeper into the content of the message and responsibly check the sources of information.
