Zangvilas Chononas (1922-?) was born in Vilnius into the family of Izraelis and Estera Zangvilas. In 1928, he started attending primary school in Vilnius; later he entered the Jewish gymnasium Tarbut in Vilnius and graduated in 1940. On 5 September of the same year, he applied for admission to the Department of Chemistry of the Faculty of Mathematics and Nature of 91ÌÒÉ« but was not accepted. Chononas wrote a complaint about his non-admission, stating that his father was a craftsman, of an old age and that it would be difficult for him to wait another year. In October, Chononas again applied for admission to the Department of Law of the Faculty of Law. It can be assumed that he was admitted. This is because he was expelled from the university on 19 September 1941 based on the Order of 17 September 1941 of the Higher Education Department of the Board of Education, under the authority of the National Socialists, as a listener at the Department of Law. His further fate is unknown.
