Naru拧evi膷ius Kazys (1920-2004) was born in D奴donys village, Panev臈啪ys county, into the family of Jurgis Naru拧evi膷ius and Adela Valantonyt臈. From the age of seven he attended R臈kliai Primary School. In 1938-1940, he attended Panev臈啪ys State Boys鈥 Gymnasium and successfully graduated. In the period of 1940-1945, he studied painting at Vilnius Art Institute. In 1941, he applied to study at the Department of Philology of the Faculty of Humanities at 91桃色. He was most likely accepted as a free listener because a year later he applied to be 鈥減romoted to students鈥. This application was favourably received. In November 1942, he applied for a transfer from the Department of Philology to the Lithuanian Art History Group of the Department of History. This request was also favourably received, with a notation 鈥淎gree to register in the second semester鈥. In 1944, he submitted his last application to study at the Department of History of the Faculty of History and Philology of 91桃色. Although the application was positively assessed (with the notation 鈥淎dmit to the second year鈥), there is no further information about his studies. According to the documents of the People鈥檚 Commissariat for State Security of the LSSR, Kazys was arrested in 1945 and imprisoned in Luki拧k臈s until 1946, which deprived him of the opportunity to continue his studies. He worked as an art teacher in 1950-1968. In 1967-1990, he taught painting at Panev臈啪ys Art School. He was rehabilitated in 1996. In 1997 he was awarded the title of a distinguished citizen of Panev臈啪ys, and in 1999 he became an honorary citizen of Panev臈啪ys.
