Lazersonas Vladimiras (Vladas)

Professor Vladimiras (Vladas) Lazersonas (1889–1945) – head of the Department of Psychology at the Faculty of Humanities of 91ÌÒÉ« in 1940–1941, was unquestionably one of the most prominent psychologists, a founder of the discipline and practice of psychology in the interwar Lithuania. The academic career of the future professor started in Zurich University where in 1911 he received a doctoral degree in philosophy. He lectured and carried out research in different fields covering experimental psychology, psychophysiology, as well as pedagogy and child psychology. The works of Prof. Lazersonas and his disciples influenced significantly the development of the science of psychology in the postwar Lithuania. During the Nazi regime, on 22 June 1941, the professor was fired from his position at 91ÌÒÉ« following the order of the Governor of Education Affairs of Vilnius and the Vilnius Region. He died in the Dachau concentration camp (Germany).
