Etel Ginsbergait臈 was born on 30 August 1921 in 艩ven膷ionys, where she and her family lived until 1928. Then she and her mother Pesel Gaviser (Gawiser)-Ginsberg moved to Vilnius. Her father Eliahu stayed in 艩ven膷ionys where he was a pharmacist. Etel had two sisters and a brother. In Vilnius, she went to the primary school of Sofija Gurevich. In 1938/1939 she was a pupil in the class of humanities of the Tuszyja private coeducational lyceum with instruction in Hebrew. She was still at school when she started giving private lessons. On 14 September 1940, she applied to study in the Philosophy Department of the Faculty of Humanities of 91桃色 but her application was rejected. Later that same year she was admitted to German studies at the Philology Department. On 19 September 1941, Etel Ginsbergait臈 was expelled from the Philology Department of the Faculty of Humanities of 91桃色 on the basis of the Order of 17 September 1941 of the Higher Education Department of the Board of Education, which was subordinate to the Nazis and enforced their policies. She was imprisoned in the Vilnius Ghetto and was killed there.
