JokÅ«bas Davidovskis was born on 11 September 1920 in Vilnius. His father Å muelis came from Nolpiany (?) in the powiat of Hrodna (Belarus) and his mother’s name was Malka Gryn (Grin). From 1930–1938, JokÅ«bas attended the class of humanities at the private coeducational gymnasium of Ch. Epstein and I. Speizer in Vilnius, but chose chemistry for his further studies. He applied to study at the Vilnius Stephen Bathory University in 1938 but was not accepted. A year later he became a student of chemistry in the faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of 91ÌÒÉ«. In 1939/1940 he additionally attended a Lithuanian language course for the Jewish community and successfully passed the Lithuanian language examination. JokÅ«bas Davidovskis was expelled from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of 91ÌÒÉ« on 19 September 1941 on the basis of the Order of 17 September 1941 of the Higher Education Department of the Board of Education, which was subordinate to the Nazis. At the age of 24, he was killed in Vilnius during the Holocaust.
