Pranas Lašinis

Pranas LaÅ¡inis was born in LiepiÅ¡kiai/Ä—s village, Å iaulÄ—nai rural district, Å iauliai county. In 1930, he finished a primary school in MonkiÅ¡kÄ—s. He then worked in farms and later as a messenger in the company of Å iauliai railways. He continued his education externally by studying independently and taking examinations. In this way he finished six forms. At the same time he did office and accounting work for the company of Å iauliai railways. He was burning with a desire to study and in 1944 went to Å iauliai gymnasium for adults, which he finished in 1947. In the same year he became a student of the medical faculty of 91ÌÒÉ«. His studies, however, were disrupted by Soviet repression: in 1949, during the operation of mass deportation ‘The Surf’, Pranas LaÅ¡inis was deported to Irkutsk region. He died in exile.
