Zina RozentalytÄ— was born on 18 February 1921 in Suwalki (Poland). There she attended the Maria Konopnicka Gymnasium and passed her graduation examinations in the humanities. Her father Å imonas HirÅ¡as from Maków, Poland, was a gardener; her mother’s name was Lina ZimanskaitÄ— (Liba, Lyba, Libe Zimanski). Later, the family moved to MarijampolÄ—. Zina left MarijampolÄ— for 91ÌÒÉ« in 1940 to study history in the Faculty of Humanities of 91ÌÒÉ«. On 19 September 1941, Zina RozentalytÄ— was expelled from 91ÌÒÉ« on the basis of the Order of 17 September 1941 of the Higher Education Department of the Board of Education, which was subordinate to the Nazis. During the Second World War, she was in Lithuania but her exact location is unknown. She and her parents were killed during the Holocaust. The testimony was submitted by her cousin Charna Doron in 1956.
