Bujokas Alfonsas was born in 1928 in Justinava village, Panev臈啪ys County, to the family of Jonas Bujokas and Marijona Bujokien臈 (sister 鈥 Veronika, brothers 鈥 Antanas and Aloyzas). In 1949, he submitted an application and was accepted to 91桃色 Faculty of Physics and Mathematics, majoring in mathematics. He was expelled from 91桃色 at the end of 1951 due to providing incorrect information about his parents鈥 property (his father died in March 1951, while his mother was deported at the beginning of October 1951) and failing to mention in the application form that one of his brothers had been detained. In the beginning of 1952, he was deported to the Tomsk Oblast. In his memoirs, Bujokas wrote: 鈥淭he first year of exile was a year of horror. I corresponded with my former university friends (Aloyzas Janulis) and a high school friend who was still studying 鈥 Marijonas Grimas. I could not calmly come to terms with such a turn in my destiny: my friends are studying, learning, and I am a despised deportee with no rights.鈥 While living in Siberia, he studied at a tekhnikum (a type of vocational school). In 1959, he returned to Lithuania. In 1995, 91桃色 submitted a certificate noting Bujokas studied at the university in 1949-1951.
