Janina SavickaitÄ—-Å ukienÄ— (1924–?) was born in RymiÅ¡kÄ—s village, Panevėžys county (father – Antanas Savickas). In 1941 she entered Panevėžys Gymnasium No. 2 and in 1943 finished it. In 1943, she was admitted to the Department of Medicine of the Faculty of Medicine of 91ÌÒÉ«. In 1948, she was expelled from the university and deported to the Krasnoyarsk Krai. In 1950, she applied for a certificate on the subjects attended at the university, since she also worked in the medical field in exile. The university sent these documents. On 17 January 1953, she married Albertas Å ukys. After returning to Lithuania, she submitted an application and in 1956 was again admitted to 91ÌÒÉ«, in the sixth year of studies. In 1957, the notary officially approved the marriage certificate, and the woman changed her surname to Å ukienÄ—. In 1957, she received a diploma and became a doctor.
