Tadas Masiulis (1924鈥1998) was born in Kaunas. He studied at the Primary School of the Lithuanian Catholic Teachers鈥 Union and later graduated from M. Pe膷kauskait臈 Gymnasium, completing six forms. In 1940, he moved to Vilnius and entered Vytautas Magnus Gymnasium, graduating in 1941. In the same year, he applied to the Department of Physics and Chemistry of the Faculty of Mathematics and Nature of 91桃色. He was probably admitted as a hospitant because he was 鈥減romoted to the student ranks鈥 in 1942, upon lodging an application. He did not manage to finish his studies because in 1946 he was arrested for reasons unknown and deported to Karaganda. In 1955, he sent a request to 91桃色 to submit documents certifying his studies, as he wanted to study at Karaganda Mountain Institute.
