ORGANIZATION OF RESEARCH AND RESEARCH STATISTICS

Scientific research at 91桃色 is conducted at all the structural units, including 11 faculties, Life Sciences Center, Institute of International Relations and Political Science, Business School, 艩iauliai Academy.

In 2022, there were 3 086 teachers and/or scholars and 798 doctoral students pursuing scientific research at the University. Students are also involved in the research activities.

Research activities at the University are coordinated by the Committee for Research Affairs, the Pro-Rector for Research and Research and Innovation Department.

Funding Sources

Research activities at VU are funded from various sources, such as State Budget, Research Council of Lithuania, funds of state and municipal institutions, international science programmes, contracting.

Prof. habil. dr J. Baranova (posthumously) and prof. dr Lilija Duoblien臈 were awarded the 2022 Meil臈 Luk拧ien臈 Prize for Scientists for the series of papers 鈥淧hilosophy of Education for Lithuania: Promoting Cultural Literacy and Philosophy in Schools (2014-2022)鈥

B. Stund啪ia received Kazimieras B奴ga (Linguistics) commemorative prize.

Prof. S. Tumkevi膷ius received Juozas Matulis (Chemistry) commemorative prize.

Prof. G. Gaigalas received Adolfas Jucys (Theoretical Physics) commemorative prize.

Dr A. Lisauskas and dr K. Ikamas received Kazimieras Bar拧auskas (Electronics, electromechanics) commemorative prize.

T. Vaiseta was awarded the Jurga Ivanauskait臈 Prize for his novel "Ch."

Four scientists were awarded the St. Christopher statues. Dr M. Dr臈mait臈 was awarded for her research into Vilnius culture and architecture. Prof. L. Jan膷orien臈 received the award for her merits in the sphere of healthcare. Prof. A. Jankauskien臈 was awarded for enhancing the reputation of Vilnius in the eyes of the medical community of the world. R. Povilaitis was awarded for providing emotional support to children.

A project at the Institute of Biotechnology of the VU Life Sciences Centre for the treatment of various human genetic diseases using gene therapy has won the 鈥欵uropos bur臈s 2022鈥 (European Sails 2022) award. It was recognised as the best in the category 鈥欵fficiency in Medicine鈥. Project leader, Dr Mindaugas Zaremba.
