National Research Projects

Changes in the Economic Structure, Efficiency of Economic Sectors and Increasing Productivity. This project has received funding from European Social Fund under grant agreement with the Research Council of Lithuania. Dr. G. Dzemydait臈, Prof. A. Mi拧kinis. 2020鈥2022.
The aim of the project is to evaluate an efficiency of economic sectors of the EU countries and regions, and to give suggestions for increasing productivity and development of smart specialization strategies.

International Research Projects

Reassessment of the Optimum Currency Area in the Persistently Heterogeneous European Union (Euro4Europe). Project funded by the European Social Fund. Dr S. Kapounek. 2018鈥2022.

The project aims at reassessing the evolution of business cycle synchronization in Europe from an encompassing point of view. It will analyse the evolution of business cycles at different levels of territorial disaggregation (national and regional), using a wide range of different univariate and multivariate econometric methods for measuring business cycle synchronization. Furthermore, it will use recently developed methods of causal inference to identify the effects of various integration steps and economic developments. In particular, the project will first assess the statistical properties and reliability of several concepts of business cycle synchronization.

Joint Enterprise and University Learning (JEUL). Erasmus+. Project coordinator 鈥 Siena University (Italy). Partners from 8 universities involved. 2018鈥2021.
The aim of this project is to establish and develop cooperation among HEI and private sector, to influence the way universities work and enable them to learn from the entrepreneurial nature of companies, develop and use case studies based on the experience of companies. The main deliverables of JEUL project are: a) establishing links between HEI and industry; b) developing and utilising case studies, embedding such teaching methodology in partner countries universities; c) identify skills and knowledge shortages and embed the required skills in the curricula; d) develop two undergraduate modules on the enterprise pathway and a suitable VLE delivery mode.

Creativity and Innovation Management in Higher Education (CIM). Knowledge Alliance under the Erasmus+ Program by European Commission. Leading partner - The University of Duisburg-Essen. 2018鈥2020.
The project aims at developing innovative teaching and learning approaches to include Creativity and Innovation Management in higher education (HE) and in practice. The CIM consortium is conducting a thorough stocktaking phase to set up a competence framework. This Project is based on a network of 15 organisations from nine countries working together in a consortium of Higher Education Institutes, Business Organisations and SMEs. CIM aims to develop a new teaching and learning approach for Creativity and Innovation Management in 15 European countries.

Promoting and Implementing Training on Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Creativity in Higher Education (PITCH). Knowledge Alliance under the Erasmus+ Program by European Commission. Leading partner - The University of Duisburg-Essen. 2019鈥2021.

The central focus of the project is the acquisition and validation of competences related to entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation. This is particularly important in view of the fact that these have not yet been thoroughly integrated into European higher education, either in the curricula or in internship programmes. If we perceive 鈥渆ntrepreneurship and initiative鈥 as an overarching 鈥渒ey competence鈥, as promoted by the Commission in 2006 and updated in the Qualifications Agenda in 2018, the university should introduce it in an overarching modular way and not only in specific fields of study such as economics.

DEveloping DAta Literacy courses for University Students (DEDALUS). Knowledge Alliance under the Erasmus+ Program by European Commission. Leading partner: Istituto per le Tecnologie Didattiche (ITD). 2019鈥2021.

DEDALUS will develop and pilot an approach to tackle the data-driven competence issues based on a long-term partnership of educational partners who have either worked in digital literacy and digital education projects or on competence oriented learning and validation of non-formal and informal learning. On the basis of a sound stocktaking on successful approaches on how to include data literacy in university programmes, it will set up a framework of competences on data literacy, taking in due consideration also the demand of the business sector.

Data Literacy at the Interface of Higher Education and Business (DATALIT). Knowledge Alliance under the Erasmus+ Program by European Commission. Leading partner: Istituto per le Tecnologie Didattiche (ITD). 2020鈥2021.

A joint research project to spread Data Literacy at the interface of higher education and business. It is aimed to lay the ground for the integration of data literacy as transversal topic in potentially all university courses, by identifying and developing common syllabus and innovative teaching and learning approaches.

The Study of Quality Management Methods and Tools Application for the Improvement of Effectiveness of Organizations Performance. Prof. J. Ru啪evi膷ius. 2016鈥2020.

The purpose of this research was to develop quality management theory and methodology striving for the growth of the competitiveness of Lithuanian economy, improving the effectiveness of the performance of private and public organizations and quality of public life. The following targets in 2020 were addressed:

  1. Socially oriented green economy (SOGE) implementation possibilities in Lithuania were studied and identified within conceptual framework. In 2020, the focus was on the potential of Lithuanian regions to implement SOGE measures. Possibilities to adapt unused infrastructure in the regions (buildings of vocational schools and other organizations, their land) for the creation of social businesses, development of short food supply chains, promotion of social activity of communities were analysed.
  2. In an environment of intense globalization and digitalization, business organizations are increasingly faced with various challenges such as rising costs, strong competition, rapidly evolving technologies, increasingly demanding and whimsical consumers, and, in social terms, changing societal demands. The following important topic - the place of Business Process Management (BPM) in the context of Quality Management (QM) was analysed. The findings show that there exists confusion, overlaps among different paradigms of QM and BPM. The integration of BPM into quality management systems and tools creates preconditions for the development of an effective and efficient organization.
  3. The concept of service quality in healthcare institution was developed. The principal purpose of this research is to examine the impact of service quality (SERVQUAL) dimensions on the satisfaction of service users鈥 (patients鈥 parents) with healthcare services and to develop a model of service quality management at healthcare institution. Developed by authors model of service quality management at healthcare institution shows the essential four steps from planning to improvement, ensuring systematic improvement of service quality.
  4. Analysis of Lean tools and principles, of organizational culture research instruments, and corporate performance evaluation frameworks was performed and consolidated. The results of the study were used in 2020, in the defended dissertation on LEAN topics.

National Research Project

Research Council of Lithuania. Factors Influencing the Willingness to Disclose Personal Data and Impact of the Willingness on the Choice of a Purchasing Channel (LMTLT), Agreement No P-MIP-19-12.

The project aims to find out what factors influence the willingness to disclose personal data, when it is collected for commercial purposes, and how the willingness influences purchasing. More specifically, it seeks to (1) discover the main antecedents of the willingness to disclose personal data, and (2) find out how the willingness influences the choice of a purchasing channel (on-line, of-line, multi-channel) and how it interacts with the trust in a seller and with the expected benefit from the data disclosure. The first findings are presented in conferences and submitted to journals.

Development of a Game-Based Electronic Distance Learning Platform Based on Blockchain Technology (JO5-LVPA-K-04-0133) (in partnership with the company Bitdegree under the name 鈥淚ntelektas鈥).

The project aims to discover learning motivations in the context of e-learning. At this moment, three stages of theoretical analysis have been performed. The first stage allowed clarifying the theoretical basis for further research (Self-Determination Theory); the second, to purify the factors that impact the intention to study and the selection of massive open online courses (MOOCs). The third stage of analysis focuses on the reasons for MOOCs success. Performed theoretical analysis allowed developing research model and instruments for data collection.
