National Research Projects
Research Council of Lithuania. Research on the Growth Effects of Public Debt (PUBDEB) (No. S-MIP-19-65). Head of the project: Prof. D. Cibulskien臈. 2019鈥2022.
The aim of the project is to provide the theoretical background on the potential factors that determine the heterogeneity of the impact of public debt on growth, and after carrying out the empirical research on their interactions with public debt, to identify conditions when public debt fosters (hinders) economic growth. The practical value of this project is related to the aim to identify the indicators provided on the annual basis, which might be used to foresee the value of fiscal multiplier, and, in turn, the nature of the impact of debt on economic growth (fostering, hindering).
Research Council of Lithuania. The Assessment Model of Return on the EU Regional Support (AMREUS) (No. S S-MIP-17-114). Head of the project: Assoc. Prof. M. Butkus. 2017鈥2020.
The research is relevant because determining the maximum level of funding intensity, which has no additional effect, as well as the minimum required funding intensity necessary to promote regional economic development, would allow increasing the EU's support efficiency by reallocating funding to regions whose financing intensity is not in optimal range. Such assessment of return on regional support would qualitatively exceed formally used in the EU and would provide important insights for regional policy adjustment. The planned study is also original in a way that it will involve assessment of return not only on the European Regional Development, but also on the European Social and the Cohesion Funds at usually researched NUTS2 and very rarely analysed NUTS3 level.

Research Council of Lithuania. A Novel Real-Time Airborne Pollen Recognition and Modelling System for Allergenic Pollen Forecast (REALTIME) (No. 09.3.3-LMT-K-712-01-0066). Head of the project - Prof. Dr Mikhail Sofiev. 2017鈥2021.
REALTIME will be implemented by two activities supplementing each other: (i) creation of algorithms for real-time allergenic pollen recognition; (ii) innovative use of algorithms for real-time allergenic pollen recognition for territorial pollen forecasting and hindcasting modelling. Real-time pollen monitoring would benefit allergic people, facilitate physicians鈥 work and open up new possibilities for monitoring of air quality. Application of such data in air quality modelling systems would be an innovative step in personalised medicine.

Research Council of Lithuania. Evaluation of Synergistic Effect of Allergenic Pollen and Air Quality on Human Health (LORI) (No. S-MIP-19-53). Head of the project - Prof. Dr I. 艩aulien臈. 2019鈥2022.
The project is based on the idea of clean air and focuses on the goals to find answers whether persons sensitised to pollen are experiencing exacerbation of symptoms not only due to the persistent effects of allergens, but also because of synergy with air pollution, high air temperature, thunderstorm or complex of air temperature and relative humidity during the vegetation season in Lithuania. We will use multi-annual allergenic airborne pollen, Lithuanian allergic newborns/Alergemol/EuroPrevall cohort, Copernicus open-source air quality and meteorological data, Pollen Diary accessible via PASYFO mobile app.

The AutoPollen programme seeks to take full advantage of the large potential for progress that automatic pollen observations provide. It brings together a consortium from across Europe with the multidisciplinary expertise needed to address the challenges along the entire information chain 鈥 from the actual observation through to the final end-user defined product. The programme is particularly innovative in its cooperation and standardisation from-the-start approach. It also favours convergence with the aerosol and air quality monitoring communities, which should lead to improved service provision and additional savings.
