Development of Accounting and Auditing. Prof. Dr. R. Suba膷ien臈. 2014鈥�2016.

Requirements for financial accounting methods and financial statements were investigated for micro enterprises, analysis methods were suggested. Development of Lithuanian accounting system was investigated. Provisions of business accounting standards and Law on corporate income tax were systematically analysed and main problematical spheres of their application were identified.

Development of trends, conceptions and approaches of controlling, the indicator systems and the suitability of their application in controlling department activity, the structure of responsibility accounting and the usage of its information were investigated. Empirical study of budget formation and implementation in Ukrainian companies was presented.

Knowledge spillovers from the research and development generated countries to receiving countries are approximated by measures of the channels of knowledge diffusion - foreign direct investments and trade. The effect of knowledge spillovers on the productivity gain is estimated by regression analysis created in the research work. The regression model is based on the standard productivity-growth framework originated from the Solow work.

The other aspect analyzing effect of spillover should be analysed by the relationships in global rivality between companies and industries and impact of various actors with potential spillover effect horizontally in different industries and vertical in the same industry.

Research Council of Lithuania. Modelling of Participation Strategy in the Second Pillar Pensions System. (project No. MIP-012/2015). Project coordinator: 91桃色. Assoc. Prof. T. Gudaitis. 2015鈥�2018.

This research project evaluates the Lithuanian second pillar pension system from the point of view of individual participant. The goal of the research is to evaluate whether the participants who joined second pillar pension system in 2004 and retire at the beginning of the year 2019 made the beneficial decision and increase their retirement income. Three different methods were used by comparing the accumulated values of a second pillar pension based on the fully funded principle with the reduced values in the first pillar pension based on the pay-as-you-go principle. The analysis was based on the historical results and data of pension accumulation of a 12-year period from 2004 until the end of 2015 with forecasted continuation of participation for the 2016鈥�2018 period based on the methodology prepared by the authors. The results demonstrate that participation in the fully funded second pillar pension system, compared with non-participation, may in general be assessed as positive and effective. However, the benefits of participation directly depend not only on investment returns and life expectancy but also on the long-run indexation of the first pillar old-age pension, which is a highly politically reliant variable.

Research on the Value Creation by Management Information and Business Intelligence Systems. Prof. R. Skyrius. 2016鈥�2018.

The principal direction of the Department鈥檚 research efforts is concentrated on the key aspects of informing business users by development and implementation of management information systems (MIS) and business intelligence (BI) systems. A special interest for the last several years is given to the area of complex information needs, encompassing business intelligence, analytics, insight development and decision support. The principal focal point of this direction is the key factors of value creation by providing advanced informing functions of business intelligence and analytics. Active research is performed in the areas of strategic planning and perceived value of information systems and lessons learned in project management activities.

Several issues were researched: application of monetary policy theory in finding the interaction between the major targets of the monetary policy and fundamental macroeconomic indicators; assessment of Lithuanian economy in the EU focussing on structure, performance and prospects of Lithuanian economy; transformation of risk and return when increasing the investment term, and determination of the impact of the investment horizon on investment results when investing in shares and bonds in Lithuania; development of strategy to improve the effectiveness of utilizing the financial assets of the Bank of Lithuania (result of the research is an optimal portfolio, consisting of 9.85 percent of risk-free assets and 90.15 percent of risky assets); regional disparities in the fields of economic development, creation and commercialisation of innovative products.

Financial Stability Problems of Finance and Credit Sector. Prof. A. Pa拧kevi膷ius. 2012鈥�2016.

The aim of the research Setting an Optimal Loan Performance Window and a Bad Loan Definition for the Credit Risk Assessment Model for Credit Unions in Lithuani was to provide suitable methods for the setting of an appropriate de铿乶ition of a bad loan and an optimal loan performance window for the statistical credit risk prediction models in credit unions. Seeking to investigate business needs, expectations and risk tolerance of credit unions, a survey of these market players was conducted; the Markov chain method for bad loan de铿乶ition and delinquency curves, based on a cohort analysis for de铿乶ition of optimal loan performance window were applied to a corporate loan data set from the credit union sector. The research results contributed to the development of a state-of-the-art credit risk assessment and pricing model, suitable for use by credit unions regarding the challenging modern 铿乶ancial market.

Research The concept of basic income: global experience and implementation possibilities in Lithuania gave an overview of universal basic income as one of the instruments of the asset-based policy, analysed its theoretical concept and practical examples.

Research Multivariate analysis of short and long-impact indicators for corporate bond market development notes that an additional instrument or established access to the capital market funding would increase business opportunities for performance, development, growth, channeling financing for sustainable and long-term economic growth and job creation.

The main aim of the research in 2016 was to carry on analysis of the HRM departments鈥� potential. The research methodology for analyzing HRM departments鈥� activities was created and the surveys have been distributed to business companies. Research results will allow revealing the potential of HRM departments, their strengths and weaknesses seeking growth of corporate competitiveness.

The Study of Quality Management Methods and Tools Application for the Improvement of Effectiveness of Organizations鈥� Performance. Prof. J. Ru啪evi膷ius. 2016鈥�2020

The purpose of this research was to develop quality management theory and methodology striving for the growth of the competitiveness of Lithuanian economy, improving the effectiveness of the performance of private and public organizations and quality of public life.

The following targets were addressed: the application of quality management methods for the improvement of performance of the public and private organizations; effectiveness of Lean managerial innovations; business processes re-engineering and effectiveness of organizations.

National Research Project

Lithuanian Research Council. The Impact of Teenager to Parents Decision to Buy Innovative from Consumers Perspective Products (MIP-017/2015). 2015鈥�2017.

The research project concentrates on studying increasing adolescents impact on parents鈥� purchase decisions, especially 鈥� when buying innovative products. Expert power of adolescents is grounded by involvement into digital technologies and their ability to find information. Their impact on parents is affected by other leverages, such as communication in family, or emotional aspects. Innovative goods (from consumer perspective) exist in a number of product categories. When faced with an innovative product, consumers experience adoption barriers that can be reduced by product knowledge, encouragements, information, or consumption experiences of others (including family members). The impact an adolescent makes in purchase decisions of various innovative goods up till now lacks clear determination. The goal of the project is to determine adolescent鈥檚 impact on parents鈥� decision to purchase innovative goods, and to draw the typology of innovative goods (from the consumer perspective) depending on the adolescent鈥檚 impact on parents鈥� purchase decisions.

Two articles have been already published and additional two are presented for journals.

Research of economic, social and demographic challenges facing Lithuania and Europe was continued in 2016. Specific targeted topics included assessment of the impact of minimum wages on the Lithuanian labour market, estimation of market price misalignments from the fundamental housing prices in the Baltic States, evaluation of the efficiency of second pillar pension funds in Lithuania, etc. A new model with regime switching errors for GDP forecasting in times of recession was proposed.

Income Distributon Factors: Labour, Capital and Welfare State (INCOME). 2015鈥�2017.

The project is aimed at analysing how income of the owners of production factors (labour and capital) change whith economic growth, how it is disributed among households of different demographic and economic structure, what is the impact of state institutions on population income and its differenciation. Proposed research project covers the gap between analysis of functional distribution of income at the state level and household income at the microlevel, its dynamics and unequal distribution. By uniting those two research strategies the links between the economic growth and income distribution can be revealed and analysed.

A Network of Independent Experts assists the European Commission in monitoring and evaluating the situation with regard to social protection, poverty and social exclusion and the policies that are relevant in this respect in the Member States and Accession countries.
