MAIN CONFERENCES ORGANIZED IN 2016
Projects Supported by University Budget
Plant Genetic Resources, Biological, Molecular Studies and Biotechnology. Prof. Habil. Dr. I. Pa拧akinskien臈. 2016鈥2020.
Inter鈥揝imple Sequence Repeat (ISSR) analysis was used to explore the genetic diversity of five blue-berried honeysuckle populations from geographically remoted locations (two populations of L. caerulea subsp. pallasii (Ledeb.) Browicz from Latvia and three populations of L. caerulea subsp. kamtschatica (Sevast.) Pojark. from Russia鈥檚 Kamchatka peninsula). The adaption of eight lilacs (Syringa L.) cultivars on in hortus condition was investigated. The main criteria to Lithuanian national plant genetic resources for the tulips (Tulipa L.) cultivars from 15 classification groups were determined. The gladioli (Gladiolus L.) Lithuanian cultivars (registered in the International Registry) 鈥楢拧 Toks鈥, 鈥楤yzantine Gold鈥, 鈥楥hocolate Princess鈥, 鈥楩alenopsis鈥, 鈥楪aiva鈥, 鈥業nfospace鈥, 鈥楴eringa鈥 were investigated. Long-term research of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) ectomycorrhizal fungal community along the moisture gradient (peat bog, peat bog-forest ecotone and forest sites) was completed.

International Projects
Project: Ribes/Rubus European Central Data Base. Dr. D. Ryli拧kis.
Internet:
The Central Ribes/Rubus Europe Database was managed (the IPGRI and ECP/GR request).
The Ribes database contains 2551 records of Ribes accessions held in 11 countries, namely Czech, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Sweden and U.K. in the meantime. The Rubus database contains 665 records of Rubus accessions held in 6 countries, namely Poland, Czech, Germany, Lithuania, Romania and Sweden (Nordic Gene Bank) in the meantime.
COST program, activity FP1305 Linking belowground biodiversity and ecosystem function in European forests. Dr. A. Au膷ina.
Contractual Research
Klaip臈da seaport. Protected plants preservation program in the Smelt臈 botanical reserve. Transfer and experimental restoration program of three protected plants species (Aster trifolium L., Glaux maritima L., Juncus gerardii Loisel), Dr. A. Skridaila, Dr. G. 艩tuk臈nien臈. 2015鈥2016.
The Botanical Garden collected material for propagation of preserved plants (seeds, live plants) in the territory of Smelt臈 botanical reserve, grew new plants (under controlled conditions - in the laboratory, greenhouses) and planted them as well as the plants taken in natural habitat (Smelt臈) in prepared areas. More than 15 000 preserved plants were grown in the Botanical Garden and planted in preserved territories (Kopgalis and Kliosiai).
