ISCH COST Action IS1308. Populist Political Communication in Europe: Comprehending the Challenge of Mediated Political Populism for Democratic Politics. 2013鈥2017. The coordinator activities are supported by the EU Framework Programme Horizon 2020. Prof. Dr. Toril Aalberg (Norwegian University of Science and Technology).
The goal of this Action was to investigate populist political communication and its impact on democratic political life across Europe. This is necessary not only in light of recent populist backlashes in many democracies against governments and political and economic developments, but also in respect to changes in national media and communication systems.
In order to comprehend this poorly understood aspect of contemporary political communication this Action will examine three interconnected, but distinct aspects of populist political communication:
First, populist political communication actors and their communication strategies. Second, the media and populist discourses and frames. Third, citizen's engagement with populist political messages and the effect of these messages.
This Action will provide a thorough critical reciew of existing knowledge, much improved research co-ordination, widen co-operation between scholars, bridge gaps in existing knowledge and strengthen dialogue with various societal stakeholders, benefiting media organizations, NGOs and policy actors as well as the wider scientific community. Gender Studies Bibliography: 1990-2012. Prof. Dr. D. Leinart臈, Assoc. Prof. Dr. L. Stund啪臈. 2017.
Gender studies are a field of an interdisciplinary study devoted to issues of social injustice on the local and the global levels. It is a kind of science of civic engagement, which aims, among other things, to help to create a just social policy for both women and men.
The aim of the research is to analyse gender studies science communication. Research included the following dimensions of analysis: institutional affiliation of the authors of the articles, the language of the publications, topics of the publications, the gender of the authors; the leaders of scientific communication in this journal (the authors that have published the biggest number of articles) were identified, too.

The analysis of the potential of digital technologies for reduction of second and third level of digital inequalities was carried out. The means of reduction of digital divide by reading and digital reading were explored. The measures and indicators for measuring impact of digital means on reduction of inequalities were explored and selected for adaptation to the Lithuanian context. Two articles prepared and submitted for review in scholarly journals.
The partners for carrying out the experimental activity were sought and selected. The overall design of activities for experimental investigation was carried out together with the partners. The project to attract additional financing for the partners was submitted and it was successful. The final design of experimental activities and measuring their impact is under development.

COST Action IS1404 E-READ. Evolution of Reading in the Age of Digitization. 2014鈥2018. The coordination activities are supported from the EU RTD Framework Programme. Dr. Anne Mangen (University of Stavanger, Norway).
The goal of this Action was to improve scientific understanding of the implications of digitization, hence helping individuals, disciplines, societies and sectors across Europe to cope optimally with the effects. Based on a multidimensional, integrative model of reading, and combining paradigms from experimental sciences with perspectives (e.g., diachronic) from the humanities, the Action develops new research paradigms and metrics for assessing the impact of digitization on reading. These metrics enable the development of evidence-based knowledge of paper and screen reading, and provide guidance for practitioners, policy makers, publishers and designers.
Researchers of the Digital Media Lab took part at the Action Management Committee, developed research of digital media. MC member 鈥 Dr. E. Macevi膷i奴t臈; MC substitute 鈥 Dr. A. Gudinavi膷ius; participant 鈥 Dr. A. 艩uminas.

Organization of Library Activities and Information within the Smart Society and Smart Management. Assoc. Prof. Dr. R. Varnien臈-Janssen. 2017 鈥 2020. (Since 1st September 2017).
The project aims are to investigate efficient management of the libraries and services organisation from the view point of reducing of social exclusion and aims to investigate international, interinstitutional and inter-sectoral cooperation from the point of innovative services in the context of strengthening knowledge and intellectual potential.
Results: Qualitative analysis of scientific literature as well as the specification of Virtual Information of Electronic Heritage. (VEPIS) and its services allowed to establish a model for provenance related added value of VEPIS, which is based on OAIS, CRMdig and RDF, supports the following functionality: Providing metadata and context of the digitization process referring to the master version and derivation chain. All this creates trustful provenance information and provides access to it by using open protocols; Provenance information within VEPIS allows referring to the versions of objects as they evolve, are modified or accessed over time. The identity of the object is strongly related to PDI (Context, Provenance, Fixity, and Reference Information as defined in OAIS) and helps understand the environment of the resource. There is a standard way within VEPIS to find provenance for a given resource: a standard WEB application within VEPIS based on the OPAC; VEPIS uses a standard way to present several basic provenance entities: 1. PURL, for referring to an object (resource), 2. A person/entity that the object is attributed to and 3. A processing step done by a person/entity to create a new object; Queries within VEPIS regarding provenance are based on paths of CRMdig. On the basis of received results, an article was prepared and submitted for publication.
